Last night we went to the rock climbing gym as a family. I started with the treadmill, where I can run and watch the kiddos climb up the wall.
I wanted to run for at least a mile, but made it just under. My lungs were burning! I am not sure if I pushed myself more than what I am ready for or if the extreme cold outside is making the air dry inside. The rock gym tends to be on the dry side anyway due to the chalk in the air, but it hasn’t bothered me like this before. This is how running goes for me. I will keep working on it.
I lasted for 8 minutes between 3.5 and 6mph for .85 miles.
Hopefully I will get outside soon. It is supposed to warm up to the 30’s in a couple of days and that is good enough for me. I hate the treadmill.
After the treadmill I went out to the actual rock climbing. I played around with some pull-ups on the hanging balls (they probably have an official name, but if they do I do not know it). Next time we are at the rock gym, I plan to do frenchies:
I focused on strength and technique this time around. I am working on v3’s and 5.10+-5.11’s. I am at a spot where a v2 is not difficult, but the v3 I can’t quite get. Last night I realized it is my foot work. I really need to learn to use my feet more effectively.
When I was too fatigued to make any progress, I moved to a couple of easier routes to really burn myself out. It’s like drop sets at the gym. It was a good night and we went home unable to remove the cap from the water bottle.
This was workout #2 for 2017.
