Today we had a glimpse of spring sunshine. There is something deep down inside that urges us to get outside after a streak of bad weather. It was a good idea too, because a storm threatened us at the end and it is pouring down rain now.
Meadow Camp, Bend, Oregon was the destination of the day. It is on the Deschutes River on the way up to Mount Bachelor, just before 7th Mountain Golf Course. There is a hiking and biking trail that follows the river into town one way and down to sunriver the other way. Meadow Camp also offers opportunities for rock climbing, fly fishing, and picnicking.
If you are lucky you may see a bit of wildlife. Today there were a number of chipmunks and we hit the jackpot when this guy was spotted.
The trail is easy with rolling hills alongside the river. There is no ending point, so you have to know when to turn around.
I recommend this trail to anyone in or visiting Bend, OR. It isn’t as crowded as other areas can be and you get a great view of lava rock on the other side of the river along the way.
