My 10 year old daughter wanted to go to Yoga. The rock gym that we are members of has free yoga for members, so the answer was yes.
The class filled up and it was a close and intimate yoga session filled with sweating and farting. The instructor was great and lead an intense class. She talked about the focus of the class to be child like, but I believe that it was the permission to fail some poses that can be difficult.
We did a lot of chaturanga’s.
One of my favorite poses is the crow pose. My strength in yoga is balance.
And if I am going to tell you my strength, I must share my weakness. It is endurance and stamina. The long poses that engage my quadriceps (thighs) are so taxing for me to maintain through the entire time and if I am not feeling 100% I have to take breaks. But, this will really help me with my goal of building up my running.
I may begin practicing some warrior poses in the evenings when I find myself just sitting on the couch watching TV. This is a simple, but strenuous (for me) set of poses that I could use more work on.
Overall, I enjoy yoga. It is difficult and I do get quite sore from a yoga session. I see why football players practice it and I would like to make it at least a monthly practice this year.
And I can’t forget that my daughter enjoyed it. Some of her poses could use some refining, but she wasn’t a distraction and didn’t hurt herself, so we won that round.
This is workout #3 for the year. The weather makes getting out daily difficult right now, so I am off to a slow start.
